This session will provide attendees and overview of the recent Legislative Session.  Learn what issues will affect the trucking industry including Tort Reform.

9:30 a.m.    Legal Issues Regarding Maintenance Programs
Should your company be involved in litigation, learn what may be asked during trial.  What types of records should you be keeping in order to ensure you are prepared.  In addition, the new Tort Reform laws will also be discussed and how they may affect your record keeping.

This session will provide attendees information concerning the regulatory processes that OSHA oversees including injury reporting, shop safety, hazcom, emergency action plans and audits.

Noon        Technician of the Year Luncheon
1:00 p.m.    DPS Update and the Out of Service Criteria    
Representatives from the Texas Dept. of Public Safety will provide an overview of the Out-of-Service Criteria and enforcement policies.  In addition, they will provide an update on trucking initiatives here in Texas. This session will allow attendees to discuss issues with the officials.

2:45 p.m.    Proper Brake Maintenance      
Brake related issues are at the top of the list for Roadside Out-of -Service violations.  The slack adjuster is the most common blame but rarely the cause.  Slack adjusters, in many cases, are simply the indicator there is something wrong in the system components.  Learn how proper maintenance can help you avoid most of these violations.

With the shortage of technicians, parts on back order, scheduling timelines with outside vendors, etc…learn what steps companies are taking to help address these issues and more.

This session will focus on tire failures.  Blowouts, tread separation, alignment, and other failures will be discussed.  Learn what specifically causes these failures, how you can help prevent and most important, save money on one of your most costly expense items.

9:45 a.m.    The Latest in Oil Technology For Trucks
This session will address the latest changes in oils.  With the implementation of PC-11 and federal regulations that are raising the bar for fuel economy and lowering emission limits, new advanced oils such a CK-4 and FA-4 are needed in order to meet these requirements.  Using the same old oil in a new truck could result in engine failure or reduced after treatment longevity.  Is the oil you are using compatible with the trucks you are buying?10:45 a.m.    Election of Officers
